Wynn's Printing Process

 Printing is a process used to transfer designs on fabric. Once Wynn has decided on a concept, she begins to sketch. Next, she transfers the image onto a carving block. Using a carving tool, she carefully removes material from the block. When the carving is complete, fabric paint is applied. The painted block will be pressed onto fabric. After the block is lifted from the fabric surface, the design is transferred. The final step involves contemplating values and applying hand painted details. For example, creating expressive eyes with white highlights. Theses finishing touches help bring Wynn's work to life.

Kat's Enamel Process

Enameling is a process of appling thin layers of powered glass onto metal. Each layer of glass is fired in a kiln. The glass appears to be the size of sugar granuals. To begin this process, Katrina sketches her ideas to plan for each step. Next, she will make a paper model to see how each enamel will fit into a design. Next, she will cut  out copper/fine silver shapes. A thin layer of powdered  glass,(enamel), is sifted onto the surface of the metal. This piece is fired in a kiln. After the firing is completed, consecutive layers are applied and fired. Each piece can have up to ten firings, depending on the desired results. Lastly, the enamels are set in metal and polished.

 Kat and Cat Pottery Process 

To begin working at her potter's wheel, Wynn first centers a large ball of clay. Next, through a series of steps, she raises and forms her pottery pieces. Once the piece has dried some, she will return it to the wheel and trim the edges. After the piece has set and air dried, it's ready for details and design to be attached and carved. Katrina(Kat) then works to help carve and attach the features or 3D clay elements including handles. The pieces are go through multiple firings and glazing steps before completion.
