KaWynn is the collective creations of Katrina and Catrielle Barnett.
Katrina Barnett
Katrina (Kat), began her journey in metal work over 20 years ago. She is a 1997 graduate of Minneapolis Technical College Jewelry program. She has sold and exhibited her jewelry and sculptural creations throughout the Midwest and Texas. Katrina's mixed-media necklace titled, Circle Game, received a JEM Club Choice Award during the 2018 Spring Show. The show was hosted by the Academy of Art University in San Fransisco, California.
Katrina's current series of jewelry and sculpture is influenced by patterns and textures. She enjoys incorporating enamels into her work and her upcoming collection. In a recent series of enamel jewelry, the patterns of our water cycle was an inspiration. Some of the materials seen in her jewelry include; semi-precious metals, silver, gold, enamel, semi-precious stone and found materials.
Wynn Barnett
Catrielle (Wynn), is inspired by form and expression. Her mediums include; fiber arts, clay, ceramics, printmaking and painting. When starting her design process, she carefully considers patterns and design. Common themes seen in her work include; protection of nature and elements of visual storytelling.
Often, Wynn incorporates up-cycled materials in many of her textile designs. The message of conserving is evident in her collections. She has nine years of sewing experience and using a variety of sewing machines. Driven to create interesting pieces, she pursues design with a passion. Wynn enjoys creating; purses, pillows, zipper pouches, ceramic pieces, wall art, clothing and accessories.
Currently, she is working on a new line of accessories including purses, pillows and clothing. In the past she has enjoyed studying fashion construction and pattern drafting at The Sewing Lounge, in St. Paul. For the past six years, she has been taking classes in wheel-thrown pottery .
