Below are collections created by Catrielle (Wynn) Barnett
In our natural world, living creatures often are split. Their bodies are divided by a shell or wings. This concept of being broken yet remaining unified was an influence for this collection. Currently, there are countless issues in our world that people are divided on. I address several of these concerns on a symbolic or physical level in the collection. This collection's goal was to incorporate materials that took significate time and attention to develop. Exploring techniques like Saori weaving, metalsmithing, copper enameling, printmaking, pattern making, sewing, and painting. This contributed to achieving a heightened visual effect. I strive to create an unusual collection using conservation processes. Careful consideration was used when acquiring materials. I often take the time to reuse materials like old copper from a discarded piece of art or fabrics.
